Erika Daniels

Colby, Kansas

Erika currently attends Fort Hays State University. She’ll be graduating this December with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.

What were the most impactful takeaways from your internship experience?

"I gained a deeper appreciation for the work that goes into agriculture and how valuable it is to connect the community to where their food comes from. On a personal level, it helped me build more confidence in speaking with groups and being adaptable on the job.

What I liked most about the internship was how much freedom I had to be creative and take initiative. I was encouraged to share my ideas and given the space to try new things, even if they didn’t always go as planned. That kind of support helped me grow my confidence as a person and professionally. I discovered skills I didn’t know I had and exceeded my own expectations. It was really rewarding to see my creativity be recognized and to feel like my contributions made a difference."

Anna Eastman

Orwell, Pennsylvania

Anna grew up near McCarty’s original dairy. She’s preparing for a career in teaching, specializing in Early Childhood and Special Education.

What were the most impactful takeaways from your internship experience?

"Working with children and their families during tours gave me firsthand experience in creating educational and engaging experiences for a wide range of age groups. I gained many skills such as confidence in coordinating tours and events, additional time management skills, the ability to think on my feet, and the ability to tailor content to different audiences. I’m thankful for these skills gained and developed here this summer, as these are all essential skills for a future educator, such as myself."

Miranda Nickerson

Corry, Pennsylvania

Miranda is majoring in Animal Science at Cornell University with a strong interest in dairy management and promotion.

What were the most impactful takeaways from your internship experience?

"I wasn’t just treated like an intern; I was treated like family. Whether it was being invited to dinners, sitting in on meetings, or getting the chance to network, it meant a lot to be included in such meaningful ways. Every interaction felt like an opportunity to learn something new.

I loved the feeling of making a difference. As a producer, educating consumers is a necessity, and it was incredible to watch people walk in with very little knowledge and leave with a real understanding of dairy farming. That kind of transparency is something the industry truly needs more of, and being part of that effort was something I’m passionate about."
